In this painting a bull is visited by a siren in the guise of an angel descended from heaven. The siren sings a song of wealth and power so alluring that the bull is drawn in and begins to imagine himself as a god. He knows he can “make it rain” and the money will flow in like water – but ultimately the water will rise until it drowns him.
