In this painting a bird stands in shallow water holding a red bead in its beak. The ground is littered with bullets and a bomber airplane is headed directly toward the viewer. So much of our infrastructure is built on producing things that destroy; it’s all around us, every minute of every day. We often end up picking up little pieces of destruction and carrying them with us. Sometimes they’re clever little things that we carry around proudly, and sometimes they’re the pollutants absorbed by our landscape and then by us.
