This piece is about process and the evolution of a piece of art. Plus I love tadpoles. I have many happy memories of catching them in the creek near our house when I was a kid.

I’ve had these four pieces of paper sitting on my desk for years. I made them by gluing and sewing remnant paper strips together, then I gessoed them and pressed a piece of old school fax machine carbon paper on top so they picked up the deep black color. One day I found a piece of bubble wrap (the kind with the large bubbles) so I inked it up with white oil paint and pressed it on the black paper. The bubbles reminded me of eggs, and thus the tadpoles were born.
