Cathy Haibach
Cathy lives and works in Chicago. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She exhibits her artwork at galleries and informally at popup shows in Chicagoland.
Cathy’s work explores the turning point in a story, the moment when things teeter on the boundary between control and lack of control or seem somehow off-kilter. Her subject matter often has a foundation in mythologies, both classic and those that we have constructed in our modern lives, and the things humans build and then abandon whether metaphorically or physically. Her recent work explores her love for the Midwestern tallgrass prairie and its deep roots.
In 2009 she and her husband Marcus bought a two flat in Chicago’s North Lawndale neighborhood and did a gut rehab by hand, turneing it into a net-zero energy building. See their blog at blog.delafleur.com.
